In-Store Sales Policies

Livestock Sales Policies:

The welfare of our animals is our priority. We reserve the right to refuse the sale of any animal if we are not satisfied that its care, housing, diet or other welfare requirements will be met.

If Your Set-Up Was NOT Purchased From Us

If the animal’s set-up has not been purchased from Repxotics, we must approve the complete set-up before the animal can be sold or collected.

You will be required to provide clear, detailed photographs of the actual set-up the animal will be living in.

To avoid disappointment, we strongly recommend sending your set-up photos to us for approval prior to collection, particularly if you are travelling a distance to visit us. Photos can be sent to us via our Facebook page, Instagram page (please ensure photos are not sent using the one-time view option), or by email to info@repxotics.co.uk

Photos shown to us for the first time in-store will still need to meet all of our set-up requirements. If we identify any issues or adjustments that cannot be resolved at the point of collection, the set-up will not be approved and the animal cannot be collected that day. Bringing photographs with you on the day does not guarantee that the animal will be sold.

Sending your photos beforehand allows us to check everything in advance and gives you time to make any necessary adjustments before collection

Enclosure Measurements – IMPORTANT

You must provide photographs showing all three external measurements of the enclosure:

Length × Depth × Height (L × D × H)

For each individual measurement, the photograph must:

  • Show the entire tape measure from the ZERO (0) point to the final measurement in one photograph.
  • Clearly show both ends of the tape measure and where they meet the edges of the enclosure.
  • Show enough of the enclosure for us to clearly identify which dimension is being measured.
  • Be taken clearly enough for the measurement to be read and verified.

Photographs showing only part of the tape measure, cropped photographs, photographs where either end of the tape measure is out of view, or photographs where we cannot clearly verify the measurement against the enclosure will NOT be accepted.

Written measurements alone are not accepted.

Equipment & Set-Up Photographs

You must also provide clear photographs showing:

  • Thermostat* – including the thermostat itself and its box/packaging where applicable.

    * If the required thermostat information cannot be clearly identified from the thermostat unit itself, we may require photographs of the original box/packaging or other evidence confirming the make and model.

  • UVB lighting – including the UVB unit/bulb and information confirming its type and UVB percentage/Ferguson Zone output.
  • Proof of UVB age – a receipt or other acceptable proof of purchase showing that the UVB was purchased within the last:
    • 12 months for T5 UVB
    • 8 months for T8 or compact UVB
  • UVB protective equipment, where required.
  • Heating equipment – showing the form(s) of heating being used and any necessary guards/protective equipment.
  • Décor and substrate – photographs showing the enclosure fully furnished with appropriate décor and substrate for the species. This does not apply to décor being purchased from us on the day of collection.

Sending photographs does not automatically mean that a set-up has been approved. We will assess the complete set-up against the requirements of the individual species and may request additional photographs, information or changes before approving the sale.

Reasons We May Refuse an Animal Sale

We reserve the right to refuse the sale of an animal at any point before the transaction is completed, including, but not limited to, the following circumstances:

  • Unsuitable set-up: If the enclosure, heating, lighting, UVB, substrate, décor or other equipment does not adequately meet the specific needs of the animal.
  • Failure to provide evidence of the set-up: If you are unable or unwilling to provide the requested photographs, measurements, proof of UVB age or other information required for us to assess the set-up.
  • Refusal to provide an appropriate set-up: If we advise that changes or additional equipment are required and you are unwilling to provide them.
  • Insufficient research: If we believe that insufficient personal research has been carried out into the animal’s housing, diet, behaviour, lifespan or ongoing care requirements.
  • Impulse purchases: If we have reason to believe that the decision to purchase the animal has been made impulsively without adequate consideration of its long-term care.
  • Dietary requirements: If the purchaser is unwilling to provide the correct and recommended diet for the species, including, where applicable, feeding live insects or appropriately sized frozen-thawed (FT) rodents.
  • Animals purchased as family pets or for children: We are more than happy for an animal to be purchased as a family pet or for a child to enjoy and be involved in caring for. However, all animal sales must be made to someone aged 18 or over, and the adult purchasing the animal must understand that they hold ultimate responsibility for its ongoing care and welfare. Where the animal is primarily intended for a child, we will also need to be satisfied that the responsible adult has an appropriate understanding of the animal’s care requirements and is willing to take over its care whenever necessary. If we are not satisfied that appropriate adult responsibility will be provided, we reserve the right to refuse the sale.

These examples are not exhaustive. We may refuse a sale for any other reason where we believe proceeding with the sale could compromise the animal’s welfare.

If the purchaser refuses to complete or sign the form in full, the transaction will not proceed and the animal will not be sold.
